David F. Tufaro is a principal in Terra Nova Ventures, which he founded in 2000. Mr. Tufaro has been a real estate developer since 1978, previously with Summit Properties, Inc. and Oxford Development Corporation.
Mr. Tufaro graduated from Yale College in 1969 with a B.A. in history. He received a joint Law Degree and Master of City Planning Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1972. Mr. Tufaro began his professional career as an attorney with the law firm of Piper & Marbury in Baltimore, where he specialized in real estate development and commercial transactions prior to joining Oxford Development Corp. in 1978.
Mr. Tufaro was a founding partner of Summit Properties and opened the company's Mid-Atlantic Regional Office in 1984. After the company went public in 1994, he served as Executive Vice President until 1999.
In 2003, Mr. Tufaro was a member of the Governor's Task Force on Maryland's Heritage Structure Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program. In July 2004, he was appointed to a four-year term on The Maryland State Board of Education.
